Role overview:
- The Accountant will manage end-to-end accounting for an owner-operated import/export trading business, supporting finance, operations and logistics.
- Work closely with the owner and operations team in a hands-on, small-team environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Day-to-day bookkeeping: record sales, purchases, receipts, payments; maintain ledgers and journals; reconcile bank statements.
- Prepare monthly/periodic reports: trial balance, profit & loss, balance sheet drafts, cash flow summaries and variance explanations.
- Accounts payable & receivable management: verify invoices, schedule payments, maintain aging schedules and follow up on collections.
- Handle export/import transaction accounting: record freight, CIF/FOB costs, customs duties, insurance and other trade-related charges; prepare supporting documentation for audits and tax filings.
- VAT/sales tax compliance: prepare and submit accurate sales tax/VAT returns and maintain supporting records.
- Basic payroll processing and statutory record keeping.
