The Zia & Rabia Bhatti Foundation is establishing Barkat International College in Islamabad and building Maktab, a unified platform for student records, ERP, classrooms and AI tutoring. The platform is preparing for its first college launch, with a long-term ambition to serve 100,000 students. Today, it uses ERPNext with its Education app, Moodle, Keycloak and an AI tutor built in Go, running in containers on AWS and managed with Terraform.

The Tech Lead will own the platform’s technical direction and engineering standards, guide its growth from launch to scale, and build a high-calibre engineering team. The role works closely with foundation leadership and academic and operational colleagues.

• Own Maktab’s architecture and document the decisions needed to support its launch and growth.
• Define how the team uses AI coding agents, including their scope, review, testing and repository-based specifications.
• Lead, mentor and recruit engineers; set and uphold standards for architecture and code quality.
• Integrate and extend ERPNext, Moodle and Keycloak, and make build-versus-adopt decisions.
• Guide platform evolution across containers, orchestration, service boundaries, tenancy, data and operating cost.
• Collaborate with college stakeholders to translate academic and operational needs into software.
